I love working with clients who bring beautiful materials and come to the table with an open mind. We are always able to collaborate and make something unique and special to them - something that tells a story! Read on to see how this Pink Pear Pinky Ring came to life! She's quite the beauty, if I do say so myself.
A piece just for her
My client came to me with a beautiful 1K white gold and diamond family piece, along with a pink pear gemstone she just loves. She wanted a ring, just for herself - something that stood out and made a statement. She wasn't scared of color and size wasn't an issue either - which was good because this gemstone is anything but tiny! When we began talking about which finger this ring would go on, she said, “I want this on my pinky finger”. So that's where we started.
Naturally, when creating a ring for the pinky, it is typically small, and in this case it needed to be a 4.5. I knew I had to build the ring in a very specific way to accommodate both the big gemstone at the center and all of the accent diamonds, but a little space planning goes a long way.
In production
I started with the band and moved on to create a custom setting to fit her stunning pear-shaped gemstone. That is the beauty of creating everything “in-house”. I can construct parts and pieces to perfectly fit existing stones. From there, the fabrication process began. I assembled the setting and the band and then moved on to using the 14k white gold from her ring to create the accent diamond settings. I love reusing and recycling materials whenever possible and this was the perfect opportunity to do so. It's funny how a lot of times the materials work out perfectly. Like with this piece, we used almost all of the 14K for creating the accent diamond settings and had just the tiniest little leftover piece. A recycling job well done!
She’s not for the faint of heart
As you can see this piece turned out wonderfully and she’s a true stunner. She's not for the faint of heart as she makes a bold statement! My client was so pleased with the result and let's just say she totally rocks this Pink Pear Pinky Ring. And those diamonds on the side, oh, aren't they just fabulous?
"OMG I love this design!! The offset of the diamonds is fabulous! OMG I love it!!" -TO
I always say, “materials love to be reused, especially if they're sitting in a lonely jewelry box”. Don't ever hesitate to reach out if you have a special project in mind or if you have materials that you have that you’d like to use in a redesign. I’d love to chat with you!
