Kristen Baird® Jewelry is proud to be a slow-fashion company, focused on one-of-a-kind and handcrafted pieces created just for you. Of course, in this fast-paced world, most of us are used to shopping a certain way. (Click and it’s there!) Things work a little differently around here.
So here are five useful things to know before shopping KBJ!

-
I can customize anything on the site! Prices may vary.
Think of browsing the Kristen Baird® website as window shopping. You can get a feel for what we offer, but there’s so much more inside! Just about every piece can be swapped out for a different metal or gemstone, upgraded, or personalized. I can even combine elements of multiple pieces in new ways or design something original just for you.
Keep in mind that even small changes can impact pricing. Different gemstones, for example, have different costs. I’ll always let you know the updated price or, in the case of commissions, my most accurate estimate possible.
-
Prices in the galleries may be different. For a variety of reasons.
When you buy a piece from one of our retailers, the price is determined by metal and gemstone costs on the day it was made, which may have been some time ago. Keep in mind that metal prices change frequently. If you want a new version of that piece, I will have to build it at the current price.
Also, galleries sometimes run promotions. In this case, the price difference is coming from the gallery side, not the artist side. I never run sales on my jewelry, so if you find a KBJ piece on sale in a gallery… get it!

-
Commission prices are estimates. A 10% buffer for gold costs is included.
When I create a commission piece, the final price is determined by the cost of gold on the day of purchasing the materials. I will provide an estimate for you with a 10% buffer on either end, so you will know what to expect. Please know that I always give the absolute best price possible based on the costs of materials. That is my commitment to you!
-
Expect at least a 6-week timeline for commissions. Two weeks for collection pieces.
Unless you are buying a piece directly from a gallery, everything is made to order. Even if you are simply clicking on my website, the piece you’re purchasing likely doesn’t exist yet. Please give me two weeks to complete your piece and ship it to you.
Commission pieces are original works of art created in collaboration with you, the client. This process takes time! Depending on the complexity of the piece, expect at least six weeks for the full commission process. I promise, it’s worth it!
-
Resizings are free. Just cover the cost of shipping.
If you purchase a ring in a gallery or online and it doesn’t fit, don’t stress! I offer free resizings for up to a month after purchasing. All you have to cover is the cost of shipping. If you don’t know your ring size, simply walk into any local jeweler and ask them to size your finger. (Note that if you ask another jeweler to resize your ring, I cannot guarantee the quality of their work, so my warranty is voided.)

…And a bonus:
I love working one-on-one with you!
Whether you’re dreaming of a fully commissioned piece or a simple gemstone swap, I absolutely love working with you. Reach out directly and let’s talk. You are the reason I do this.
